Why is there a +65 in front?
The +65 prefix which we implemented with telcos in April last year helps to alert the public that these are calls coming from overseas, and that the public should not pick up such calls if they are not expecting anyone calling from overseas.
Why do overseas numbers keep calling me?
It’s a tactic of a Wangiri scammer to disconnect, hoping you call back to find out what the call was about. Simply put, if someone calls from a location you don’t know, forget about the call and move on. It’s just a phone scam, and you don’t need that in your life.

Should I pick up calls starting with +65?
Thanks to new regulations2, all overseas calls will come with the plus sign prefix – and if it is a local call, no prefix should be included. So if the international code starts with +65, you should not even pick up.
